THE COMMON GROUND
This story is about starting with having nothing and ending up with giving everything. After losing both his parents of HIV/AIDS at the age of 10, Ugandan Joseph Rutaraka became the head of his household and became responsible for his younger siblings. Thankfully, Joseph and his two siblings were all born HIV-negative, and they were able to enter a child sponsorship program through Compassion International, which gave Joseph the opportunity to attend not only primary and secondary school, but university as well. In 2013, Joseph founds The Rakai Orphans Hope Project (ROHP), a registered Ugandan non-profit NGO to help children infected or affected by HIV/ AIDS.

MONOLOGHES
“Monologhes” imagines a debate in the Ladin language between four inhabitants of the Mountain, whose testimonies merge into a sort of “flow of consciousness” with several voices, a “choral monologue” which underlines almost like a fresco on one side an apparent loneliness on a visual level, on the other a tangible collective uniqueness on a verbal level. Spanning the ground between the faces of the protagonists and flying along the silent depth of the valley, the visual fabric represents the very personification of the mountain, a patient spectator of a pandemic that has removed, but also returned, and reflects an invaluable human fabric capable of surviving.

BRIDGING THE GAP
This documentary film inserts into this religious climate. Today, the Mon State counts a population of 1,160,000, whose 85% are Buddhists and 0.90% are Christians.
There are very few Mon traditions still in use in the modern-day Mon church, and the Christians do not attend the local festival and events held by their Buddhists brothers. This has contributed to a great divide between the two sub-cultures within the Mon culture and the misconceived understanding of who Christ is to average Mon people. One local minister/preacher, Mehm Tun Thein, has initiated the drive and passion to change that. While overcoming his own personal obstacles of polio and persecution, he mentors others to do the same: to step across the gap to connect with their Mon brothers.

PIZ-GAMMA
Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), the Società Alpinisti Tridentini (SAT) and the National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF) have been cooperating with FBK for years in the field of scientific satellites with a focus on special sensors designed to collect X-ray and gamma-ray cosmic radiation. The scientific input comes from the Observatory of Astrophysics and Space Science, INAF section of Bologna, which, in collaboration with ASI, CNR/ISAC, Universities of Padua and Rome Tor Vergata, has set up an experiment dedicated to the collection of X / gamma signals from the “Ottavio Vittori” Observatory of Mount Cimone (2165 m above sea level). The goal of the experiment is to study the phenomena involved in the production of this radiation in the upper atmosphere (15-20 km altitude) known as Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flashes (TGF) produced during lightning episodes during thunderstorm events.

THE TECH + WILD JOURNEY
Wild berries and mushrooms are considered to be a national treasure of Nordic countries. These food products require zero resources to cultivate as they grow naturally in the forests. But the main challenge in collecting wild berries lies in the manual forest harvesting, namely pickers’ working conditions. Due to the short season, the majority of the work is conducted by foreigners with limited knowledge of the language, culture and forests. The need for a solution that improves the human experience is substantial. Some pickers may suffer from anxieties of being injured or lost in the forests. Moreover, the optimum locations for the workers to pick the products are uncertain. These and many other reasons have motivated the consortium to produce this film.
